Michael Rodie, Business Coach

Coach Rodie Coaching Small Businesses

My expertise comes from a background in Business Analysis and Management Consulting, where I have supported large organizations of 1,000+ employees to implement technology, implement and improve their processes and workflows, and to build winning strategies.

In 2025 I started working with a few friends to launch and improve their small businesses, primarily in the trades and professional service industries. I loved working directly with the owner of the business and seeing the fast pace of change and positive results.

So, I decided to bring my experience to Business Coaching and to small businesses, as I want to make a real difference in my own backyard. Running a business isn’t easy; it can be a stressful, lonely, and all consuming pursuit. My aim as a business coach is to bring clarity, capability and confidence to business owners so that running the business isn’t a burden and they achieve what they set out to with their business.

Vision

To be the go-to business coach in the Sea-to-Sky for owners of small businesses, primarily in the trades

Mission

To deliver an effective, authentic and personal brand of business coaching that builds owner capability and confidence across core aspects of the business; strategy, planning and systems (sales, hiring, …), without the corporate look, feel, or cost.

Why

I want to see the local business community thrive. Entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses are the backbone of our economy and our community.

They make shit happen, and I want to help them to do more of it and to do it better!

Value

My value as a coach is perspective, expertise, and accountability.

I’ve worked across a number of industries, business sizes, challenges, and opportunities, and bring that experience to provide a coach service grounded in what actually works.

I value your time, money, and goals, and so I focus only on what your business NEEDS to get it where you want it to be.

1. What is business coaching and how is it different from consulting?

Consulting is when you hire a Consultant to do the work for you, and you provide guidance so they get the work done the way it needs to be.

Coaching, on the other hand, is where you hire a Coach to bring their expertise, guidance, systems, and resources to you, so YOU can gain the capability, capacity and confidence to do the work.

The goal is to make you a stronger, more confident business owner, not to create a dependency on me.

2. Who is your coaching designed for?

Primarily small business owners in the trades across the Sea-to-Sky and Vancouver. Plumbers, electricians, contractors, builders. People who are brilliant at what they do but find the business side harder than the trade itself.

That said, if you run a small business and you are finding it hard to grow, stay organized, or make real progress, we should talk.

3. How do I know if I am ready for coaching?

If you are working hard but not making the progress you expect, feeling overwhelmed by the day to day, or you know where you want the business to go but cannot seem to get there, you are ready. You do not need to have everything figured out. That is exactly what we work on together.

4. What does coaching actually look like week to week?

We meet weekly, in person or online, for a focused one-on-one session. Every session is practical and tailored to where you and your business are right now. We work across strategy, planning, and systems, and I hold you accountable for what you commit to doing between sessions. No fluff, no generic advice.

5. How long does coaching take before I see results?

It depends on where you are starting from, but most clients start to feel a shift quickly, often within the first few sessions. Getting clear on your direction and having a real plan in place changes how you show up every day. Tangible business results like improved margins, better systems, and reduced stress typically build over the first few months.

6. What makes you different from other business coaches?

I recognize that owners of small businesses aren’t looking for a suit and tie, jargon, and a bill for services that blow through their profit.

What makes me different is that I have the big organization experience, but I also have the small business experience, the solopreneur experience and bring a grounded coaching perspective to every client.

No jargon. No fluff. Just real talk and real results.

7. Do I need to be in Squamish to work with you?

No. I work with business owners across the Sea-to-Sky and Vancouver, and sessions can be in person or online. If you are local and want to meet face to face, great. If not, online works just as well.

8. How much does coaching cost?

There are three program levels depending on where your business is at. Foundation starts at $795 per month, Operator at $995 per month, and Commercial at $1,295 per month. Not sure which is right for you? Start with a FREE Discovery Call, and we will figure it out together.

9. What is a Discovery Call?

It’s a free 30-minute session where I get to know more about you and your business. Where it is now. Where you want it to be. The challenges. The opportunities.

There’s no obligation to start a coaching program. It’s simply a change to get some real clarity and see if working together makes sense.

10. What if I am not seeing results?

That hasn’t happened yet, but if you’re not seeing results, I’d want to know right away.  All coaching engagements start with an assessment of key areas across your business. We’ll agree on where to focus and what your goals are.   We’ll regularly check in on progress to make sure you’re seeing results. If not, we adjust our approach as needed.  I’m not here to take your money and run. I am here to get your business where you want it to be.
